Sam Loni - سیامک لونی

Sam Loni is an economist working at the intersection of research and practice, focusing mainly on the macroeconomics of energy and development in the Middle East.

He also has extensive experience with leadership and management, having successfully led major international programmes and networks over the past decade.

He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Oxford, working with the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), and the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE).

Previously, he served as Program Director at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) - a policy think tank operating under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General.

In addition to his research and policy work, Sam has also successfully managed major international programmes and networks, and led several advocacy campaigns dedicated to causes such social justice and sustainable development.

His work has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Forbes Magazine, The Age, Al Jazeera, SBS, ABC, the Australian, and the Huffington Post. He has given over 500+ talks at various international conferences and forums and has received multiple awards and scholarships for his work, including scholarships from the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, and the Rotary Foundation, as well as recognitions by Forbes Magazine, the NAEEA, and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum.

He completed his honour’s degree at Monash University and recently graduated with two master’s degrees from the University of Oxford. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), where his research focuses on the economics of energy and development in the Middle East.
